SCC finally….. stroll to victory!!

This fixture is always one that excites the players from both teams as its always competitive and classed as a derby!! The match itself during the first half was dire to be honest, due to the following reasons; i) Germans came to defend and hope for one on the counter, ii) the SCC lacked their usual penetration and urgency when in possession. The SCC seemed lethargic in their final third play and seemed content keeping the ball to no conclusion. A goal did get created by a cross into the box for Nahar Daud to finish very well indeed to finally settle the SCC, however, a fast counter seen the Germans claw a goal back to make it 1-1 at the half time break.

The second half seen SCC remain in control although Germans definitely got back into the game more than the first half down to their counter attacking which seen the SCC keeper and defenders having to work harder to keep the ball out and with a bit of luck, it did!! The change in the game happened when the SCC got a corner (not sure what happened as the Germans was arguing why it was given) and Monaghan headed in a rare goal to take the advantage. From then on in, SCC looked far more dangerous and the introduction of Hutcheon certainly raised the intensity of our play and soon after Mehdi smashed home a sweet left foot strike to take the game completely away from the Germans.

The SCC reshuffled their personnel with the likes of Simon Tan, young Shane, Adam Bowden and Henry coming on the field for Monaghan, Alonso, Daud and McCarvel (whom managed to capitalize on a defending error to make it 4 – 1, before coming off).

The fresh legs of the SCC took control and managed to secure another two goals, both from ‘Henry ‘Thai Policeman’ Turner who smashed a shot from 20 yds into the net whilst his second came from good play on the right for him to smash home from 6 yds. IN the end it was very comfortable for the SCC but Germans probably deserved more for their efforts.

The MOM of the SCC goes to Scott Wells this week for his composure on the ball in defense his and organizing skills which adds mass value to the team.
