This fixture last year seen an SCC team lose a 3 nil advantage to evetually draw the match against a spirited Ubin side so the SCC definitely had the respect for the opposition going into this match.

The game began at a frantic pace especially from the SCC point of view.... possession was non-existent, composure was missing and the shape was chaotic. The Ubin team was making it difficult for the SCC team by working hard to pressure the ball and make a challenge therefore, limiting the SCC to create any real chances to mention. The ubin side was looking to get in behind the SCC defense by hitting long balls with runners from deep working on the second ball which was causing some problems for the men in yellow, only for last ditch defending or good ‘covering’ from Angelov in the sticks.

The SCC finally got off the mark with a cross from the left only to see hutch mis-kick his first attempt, fall over, react faster than all and finally slot his second attempt into the corner. This settled the team massively and we began to improve slightly in terms of creating chances and exploiting space with Danny T causing havoc on the right side by getting past his man time after time only to be upended most of the time. Once again he beat his man, rode the challenge and then pick out Hutch in the box who made no mistake and slotted for his second goal of the day. HALF TIME 2 - 0.

The half time talk consisted of the need to improve by defending better, keep the ball more and to utilise the space in the wide areas otherwise changes would be made given the quality we had on the bench!

The second period seen Ubin having the better of the play with SCC looking dangerous on the counter but with no end product and mid way through the half actually seen Ubin get a goal to make it 2-1 and make the SCC think...not again!!! However, an SCC move that started with Dom on the right side who played in Hutch down the channel whom ran toward the byline, cut back to Henry at the far post who laid off to the onrushing Dom who slotted into the corner to ease any SCC’s nerves..a good goal indeed. Soon after, the game become more expansive due to a combination of tired legs and the new subs on the field looking to impress which created more goal opportunities for both teams.

The next goal for the SCC seen a good move down the left with Henry and David combining well, leading to a well struck shot from the french man Alonso to make it comfortable with a 4 - 1 scoreline. Soon after young JD came on the field and chased down a long ball which caused a mis-understanding between the Ubin defender and GK and allow JD tap in from 5 yds.......game over....well it wasn’t...the Ubin finished a good move with a screamer to make the result 5 - 2. Ubin played well in terms of working hard as a team, being physical but in a positive way (the way football should be allowed to be played) and making life difficult for an SCC team that found it hard to sustain their normal rhythm of play.

Individual performances from the SCC were not the best although take nothing away from the MOM of the SCC for the match who fully deserved it and stood out by producing a good performance with his reading of the game, distribution and superb timing of his tackling; Adam Bowden.
